The present monograph brings together the results of a research project realized in collaboration between the Institute of Ecology and Bioethics of the Faculty of Christian Philosophy at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome. The project was entitled Humanity and the Environment: Return to the lost oikos and its restoration” and was articulated in three stages: humanity’s return to the lost oikos, restoration of the ravaged oikos, and sustainable management of the oikos. The research was carried out in a span of three years and the salient findings were presented in three international conferences, the first two in Warsaw and the last in Rome. The present volume gathers together the proceedings of these conferences.

Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam is Chair of Philosophy of Science and Director of the Institute of Social and Political Sciences at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome. Zbigniew Łepko is Chair of Environmental Anthropology and Director of the Institute of Ecology and Bioethics at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. Ryszard F. Sadowski is associate professor of Environmental Anthropology in the Institute of Ecology and Bioethics at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw.
